Privacy policy
Effective October 30, 2026 · Last updated October 30, 2026
This policy covers this website, scribblegrading.com, and its waitlist. Scribble is run by Ryan Williams ("Scribble", "we", "us"). The Scribble grading app at app.scribblegrading.com is not covered here: it has its own privacy notice, shown inside the app.
The short version
- We collect your email address, and your school and subject only if you choose to share them.
- We use them only for the waitlist: to invite you, and to send a few updates about Scribble's launch.
- We don't sell or rent your information, show ads, or share it for anyone else's marketing.
- This site has no cookies, no analytics and no ad trackers.
- Your entry is deleted 12 months after you sign up, or sooner if you ask.
- Questions or removal: privacy@scribblegrading.com.
1. What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect:
- your email address (required);
- the name of your school and the subject you teach, if you choose to fill them in;
- the date you signed up, and the date we invite you, if we do.
Please don't put any information about students in the form. The waitlist doesn't need it.
When you visit this site, your browser sends technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, to our host, Cloudflare. Cloudflare uses it to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. If a page fails to load, your browser may also send Cloudflare a short error report (which page, and what went wrong) so it can fix network problems. To stop spam, our form briefly uses your IP address to limit repeated sign-ups. We don't save your IP address with your waitlist entry, and we don't use it to identify you.
We don't collect information about you from other sources.
2. How we use it
We use your information only to:
- add you to the waitlist and invite you to try Scribble when a spot opens;
- send you occasional updates about Scribble's launch;
- reply when you write to us;
- decide who to invite first, and understand which schools and subjects are interested (that's what your school and subject are for);
- keep the form safe from spam and abuse.
We don't use it for anything else. We don't sell or rent it, use it for advertising, or share it with other companies for their own marketing.
3. Who else handles it
Two service providers handle your information, only to run the website and the waitlist for us:
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this website and stores the waitlist in a database located in the United States. It also receives email sent to privacy@scribblegrading.com and passes it on to our Gmail. Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Google (Gmail) holds our email: messages you send us end up there, and the emails we send you come from it. Google's privacy policy.
We may also share information if the law requires it, for example to comply with a valid court order, or to protect Scribble, its users or the public from fraud or security threats.
If Scribble becomes a company or joins another one, the waitlist would move with it, and this policy would keep applying to it.
4. Online tracking and Do Not Track
- This site doesn't use cookies, analytics, advertising tags or tracking pixels. Its fonts are served from this site, not from another company.
- We don't collect information about your activity across other websites over time, and no other company does so on this site.
- Because there's no tracking to turn off, we treat every visitor the same way, whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
5. How long we keep it
- Your waitlist entry is deleted 12 months after you sign up, or sooner if you ask us or unsubscribe.
- Deleted entries can stay in our host's automatic database backups for up to 30 days. After that they're gone.
- Emails you send us stay in our email account. Ask us, and we'll delete them too.
- When we invite you, we also add your email address to the app's invite list so you can sign in. If you haven't joined Scribble yet and ask us to delete your information, we remove it from there too.
- If you join Scribble, your account, including that invite, is covered by the app's privacy notice. Deleting your account in the app removes it.
6. Your choices
- Optional details. You can join the waitlist with just your email address.
- Stop updates. Every update tells you how to unsubscribe. Unsubscribing removes you from the waitlist.
- See, correct or delete your information. Email privacy@scribblegrading.com from the address you signed up with, so we know the request is yours. We'll reply within 30 days.
7. How we protect it
- This site and the form use an encrypted (HTTPS) connection.
- The waitlist is stored encrypted in Cloudflare's database in the United States.
- Only Ryan Williams can access the list.
- What you type in the form isn't written to our server logs.
No system is perfectly secure. If your information were ever exposed in a security breach, we would tell you by email.
8. Children and students
The waitlist is for teachers and other adults 18 and older. It isn't meant for children or students. If we learn that someone under 18 has joined the waitlist, we'll delete their entry.
9. Changes to this policy
The dates at the top show when this policy took effect and when it last changed. If we change how we use waitlist information in a way that matters to you, we'll email everyone on the waitlist before the change applies, as well as updating this page.
